Pathways to Progress Workshop Series: Introduction to Basic Behavioural Techniques Previously known as – “Why They Do What They Do”

Course Description:

RSA is excited to bring this workshop to you in a virtual format! This workshop offers Direct Support Professionals an introductory understanding of the principles and procedures of basic behavioural techniques aimed at supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. It will cover the functional assessment process as well as the relationship between the three components that influence behaviour: biological factors, the current environment, and past events.

You will also receive an overview of how the results of the functional assessment process are applied to influence the behaviour of the individuals you support. We will explore how fostering positive behaviours, skill development techniques, and addressing necessary behavioural changes are incorporated into the development of a Positive Behaviour Support Plan to improve the individual’s quality of life.

Information from this introductory workshop will provide a useful foundation whether you are participating in the Community Capacity Development Initiative or considering attending RSA’s 10-Week Pathways to Progress: Behavioural Techniques for Developmental Enhancement Workshop Series.
