Pathways to Progress: Behavioural Techniques for Developmental Enhancement
Formally known as Applied Behaviour Analysis training course
All behaviour influences quality of life. Without proactive supports in place for the people we support, addressing behaviours adequately can be difficult for the support team. Applied Behaviour
Analysis (ABA) is an empirically validated approach to reduce problematic behaviour and increase socially significant behaviour (Cooper, Heron & Heward, 2020).
This course will focus on increasing understanding of the core characteristics and principles that are proactive and preventative such as identifying triggers (setting events, antecedents), teaching skills, and reinforcing positive behaviours.
The application of knowledge and strategies learned to support people with intellectual disabilities and dual diagnoses to engage in socially significant behaviours is the emphasis of the course.
This course will be facilitated in a hybrid format with weekly independent learning and weekly virtual sessions facilitated by staff from Regional Support Associates. Virtual sessions will allow
participants to discuss learned concepts, and complete required activities and assignments.
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded on successful completion of the course.
