DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nPart 1: Functional Communication Training to Decrease Challenging Behaviour\nThis workshop will introduce Functional Communication Training (FCT), an evidence-based approach to reducing challenging behaviour by teaching meaningful and socially significant communication skills. It is based on the premise that all behaviour is a form of communication. We will review the foundational teaching principles behind FCT and participants will learn the basics of how to select and teach appropriate replacement communication skills.\nPart 2: Behaviour Skills TrainingBehaviour Skills Training (BST) is an evidence based method of teaching new skills. Direct staff often help teach new skills to people they support.
